I can mountain bike tires on a hybrid bike?
Hello, I have a hybrid bike (it looks like a mountain bike, but has narrow tires). The bicycle can not support my weight (I'm 180 pounds). In fact, this is the reason, the last owner sold it (but then again, he was more than £ 220 …). As I sit on it, the back tires only compress a lot. This forces me to greater efforts when kicking, I'm feeling go slow 'cause it would. I like to know if I can replace them with wider tires. Also, it will actually solve my problem? Thanks.
180 pounds is not that hard. If they rear tires is compressed when you sit on it, it's probably because you do not have enough air pressure in the tires. I suspect the tire lasts 80 or 90 pounds of air. For a bike shop and they have properly inflate the tire. Perhaps buying a pump with pressure gauge to the right. May, some cost $ 20. I can almost guarantee that this is the problem. Mountain Wheel and tire would not fit because they are 26 "in diameter, rather, that the nearly 27" (700c), which are hybrids. Tyres can also mountain bikes actually only deal with a lower pressure than hybrid. Although they have more rubber, they may not be as "hard", and therefore can be even worse depending on condition.
